Seabird Coast and Hunua Twisties

A big figure-of-loop out of Ardmore that strings together the Clevedon hills, the tight coast road past Kawakawa Bay and Ōrere Point, then the flat Seabird Coast run to Kaiaua and Miranda before turning inland at Mangatarata. SH2 over the Maramarua hills and the Mangatangi and Hunua back roads bring you home with plenty of corners and bush-clad gullies. Fuel up at Clevedon or Mangatawhiri, as there is nothing reliable between Kaiaua and Maramarua; the Kaiaua chippie or the Miranda café make a good halfway stop.
